Patrick George Zaky’s arrest: the motion of the University of Bologna

Following a proposal by the Rector Francesco Ubertini and by mutual agreement of the board of governors, the directors of Departments, the Campus Presidents, the Administrative and Technical Staff Council and the Student Council, the Academic Senate, at the special session of 12 February 2020, passed the following motion regarding the arrest of Patrick Zaky, a young student enrolled in the "GEMMA" Master at the University of Bologna.

The Great White Shark and the Mediterranean: a 3.2 mln years long history

An international research group led by the University of Bologna managed to sequence the DNA of this great predator of the seas, comparing DNA from ancient artifacts such as teeth, jaws and vertebrae. The results are also worrying: the Mediterranean white shark is endangered.

Coronavirus 2019-nCoV: the largest meta-analysis of the sequenced genomes of the virus


The analysis carried out by the University of Bologna confirms that the virus originates in bats and shows a low heterogeneity: the virus does not mutate a lot. However, it also identifies a hyper-variable genomic hotspot.
