Una Europa Prize: Unibo students are on the podium!

The three winners of the UnaEuropa Prize are finally out!  This video competition promoted by the Una Europa Alliance challenged students by asking them: “What is your vision of the European university of the future?”.

The Una Europa Prize had the objective of involving students in the creation of a vision for the future of university and the university of future. Keeping up with this goal, students from 8 different universities participated in this challenge and made a stand for their vision of the European university of the future with a video.

The winners

Una Europa called and students at the University of Bologna were ready to answer!

On the winners' podium we find two groups comprising Unibo students who shared their thoughts about the university of the future through their wonderful videos.

The gold medal went to "The Symphony of the Future University"This is the vision of a group of students from many universities: Maria Cipińska, Carmine Ceraolo, Eryk Lasek, Giulio Loforese, Giulia Salandin, Irina Ritvanen and Leo Valkama, from Bologna, Helsinki and KrakowTheir video enthused the jury by focusing on a participative university that bridges distances across different places. "'The Symphony of the Future University' combines Una Europa’s values in a beautiful way, putting emphasis on the manyfold activities of the university of the future” stated the jury. “The video shows enthusiasmcollaboration, and even playfulness."

At the general assembly, Giulia, one of the co-authors, said: "I think our team in itself was inspiring. We just put together our ideas, focusing more on cooperation than competition, because it is exactly how we imagine future universities: international and cooperative. If we showed to be able to work to create something together during a the worst pandemic of all times, the future seems a little brighter, doesn't it?

The bronze medal went to “The University of the Future We Want”, submitted by Davide Coppola and Simona Capecelatro (first year students at the MA Programme in International Management and Business Administration) and Roberto Perriccioli (a student of the Bologna Business School)Their video was convincing because it emphasised the social aspects of learning and employed entertaining techniques while delivering a very "important message for the future based on our current situation."

The leading values of this video are sharing and cooperation between international students. Technologies and people together can tear down barriers and alliances like UnaEuropa are fundamental enablers of change” stated Simona Capecelatro during the Una Europa General Assembly. “Through our video we have tried to convey this message: we face a lot of challenges, but anything is impossible to overcome! One student alone cannot go too far, but together, yes, together, students all around Europe can change the future of university”
