The University of Bologna features among the first 101 universities in the world in all five macro-areas of knowledge, according to the new edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject. The Alma Mater is the only university in Italy to hold this record, thus confirming the high quality of its programmes across all disciplines.
More specifically, Unibo is 59th in Arts & Humanities (the no. 1 university nationally), 70th in Social Sciences & Management (+10 positions compared to 2017), 77th in Natural Sciences, 100th in Engineering & Technology and 101st in Life Sciences & Medicine. Only 35 universities in the world, including the Alma Mater (the only Italian institute on the list), appear in the top 101 positions in all macro-areas.
Going into the details of individual subjects, Alma Mater Studiorum is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world in 21 subjects, confirming its place as Italy’s leading university and as one of the best universities globally (overall, there are 71 universities with at least 21 subjects in the first 100 places).
