QS Rankings: The University of Bologna confirms its place among the top 200 universities in the world and keeps climbing up
The University of Bologna jumps 17 places in the high-profile international rankings (number 160). The most important indicator of the QS rakings (Academic Reputation) sees Unibo first in Italy and 69th in the world.
A further jump forward, this time 17 places. The University of Bologna improves its performance in the QS World University Rankings for the fourth year in a row. QS is one of the most renowned and prominent university rankings on the international scene.
The 2021 rakings was released today and takes the university of Bologna to position 160 in the world's top institutions: since 2017 Unibo has moved up 48 places. Unibo thus consolidates its place among the top 200 universities in the world rankings. If we consider that there are 26,000 universities in the world, the University of Bologna sits in the top 1% universities globally.
Since 2019 Unibo has improved its performance also within the Academic Reputation indicator, which is the most important of the QS rakings: it collates the opinions of over 100,000 individuals in the higher education space and makes up for 40% of the overall score. In this indicator, Unibo moved up five places and reached number 69 globally and number one in Italy.
"Despite their inevitably limited view of the university context, year after year, the main international rankings keep rewarding our University's efforts and this is surely a source of great pride for our entire community" says Rector Francesco Ubertini. "In particular, I'd like to highlight our achievement within Academic Reputation; being number 69 in the world is a very important result, especially when considering that the universities sitting at the top within this indicator generally host half the students and have double the lecturers than University of Bologna".
QS is one of the most influential university world rankings and is read by tens of millions of students every year. QS rankings collate the opinions of 102 thousand people between lecturers, professors, and researchers, and of 52 thousand managers and HR chief executive officers. Moreover, it takes into consideration 13.5 mln scientific papers, 74mln citations and the distribution data of 23mln students and approximately 2mln between lecturers and researchers.
