OpenU will create a European hub for online learning supporting blended and virtual mobility and enabling virtual campuses and exchange of best practices. The online hub will connect existing pedagogical resources and provide a space for deeper academic cooperation between higher education institutions (HEIs). It is expected that the experimentation will lead to innovation in teaching and international cooperation, boost blended and virtual mobility of student and staff and embed internationalisation in HEI strategies and curricula.

OpenU will contribute to the creation of the online hub and it could notably provide the following outcomes:

  1. Establishing a single point of access for online learning in Europe.
  2. New pedagogical cooperation methodologies to academic communities that will accelerate the joint delivery of courses.
  3. Supporting the establishment of European universities by creating a shared digital infrastructure.
  4. Improvements towards a sustainable integration of flagship projects such as the European Student Card.

The project aims to contribute to systemic change by leading to concrete discussions in the ET2020 working groups on the topic, which will in return lead to digital transformation in national policies.
