French, Russian, Portuguese, and Spanish

The minimum level of competence in the languages requested by our partner universities mentioned below are established on the basis of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages:

  • French: B1 to C2 (see the Info Sheets of the partner universities);
  • Spanish: A2 to B2 (see the Info Sheets of the partner universities);
  • Russian: B1 to B2 (see the Info Sheets of the partner universities);
  • Portuguese: A2 to B1.

Chinese and Japanese

  • Chinese: HSK level 2;
  • Japanese: see the Call for Applications and the Info Sheets of the partner universities.

Language competence in French, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese

Applicants have to demonstrate their language competence by following one of the modalities mentioned below, considered as equivalent to each other:

  • Equivalent language certificates, as mentioned in the table attached;
  • Having passed a language test specifically designed for calls for applications for international mobilty programmes (these tests are valid only if taken in the academic years 2017/2018 and 2018/2019);
  • Having obtained a certificate stating that the applying student attended a language course matching with the requested level at the Centro Linguistico d’Ateneo issued after 1 October 2017.

If you do not have any of the language certificates mentioned above, you may take a language test at the CLA. In order to take the test, you have to register online.

After having selected the languages requested on the ALMARM platform, book the test’s date by entering Studenti online and clicking on “Prenotazioni”/“Bookings”.

As regards the language tests held at the Centro Linguistico d’Ateneo (CLA) mentioned in the Call for applications, you are allowed to take a test only for two foreign languages. You are allowed to take each test only once.

Please, remember that you have to reach the competence level requested by each selected partner university.

English

Applicants have to provide a TOEFL iBT certificate. Alternatively, they may provide an IELTS (Academic) certificate (please remember that not all partner universities accept this certificate). In order to apply, students have to know their overall score by the expiry date of their application. The minimum level of language competence, requested by our partner universities, is mentioned in the Info Sheets attached to the Call for applications.
