Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

Lo studente al termine del corso acquisisce conoscenze nell'ambito dell'analisi di mode, stili e culture visuali del cinema. Recepisce tecniche e prassi della costruzione iconografica del film, ed è in grado di realizzare ricerche approfondite sui temi connessi al rapporto tra corpo, cultura, spazio sociale, linguaggio e cinema. Avrà inoltre competenze nell’analisi del film e nei concetti essenziali di storia del cinema.

Contenuti

Film and Fashion is an interdisciplinary program that focuses on theory and criticism of film and visual culture in cinema, "fashion film" included. The course examines cinema's role as a unique art and media form which contributes to analyze moving images as media practices of enduring cultural and social significance. In particular, the program will focus on:

 

- film and fashion relationships

- film analysis

- celebrity culture in cinema

- italian style in films

- Fashion-film

For attending students, classes are sufficient for understanding and comprehension: course materials will be prepared by professor, available online on Virtuale

For students who do not have any previous experience in the field of film culture and film analysis, we suggest:

Jon Lewis, Essential Cinema: An introduction to Film Analysis, Wadsworth/Cengage, 2013

 

 

Metodi didattici

Professor will use a syllabus with a clear schedule of lessons, screenings, presentations. Students will be required to prepare assignments on specific topics during the course

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

For attending students:

UNIT 1. Classroom presentation (film or TV series analysis) with multimedia tools (Power Point or Prezi or other...) and subsequent upload of the work on Virtuale platform.

UNIT 2. Short paper (3000 words) on "Celebrity, Teen and Media" seminar by prof. Ylenia Caputo.

The work must be sent to roy.menarini@unibo.it 7 days before the exam.

Guidelines for both points 1 and 2 will be available on Virtuale website

The final mark is based on a 30-points scale (20 for unit 1 and 10 for unit 2)

 

For NON attending students:

the student is required to prepare a written work (min. 7000 words) to be agreed with the teacher. The work must be sent to roy.menarini@unibo.it 10 days before the exam.


Grades are assigned according to the following criteria:
18-20: There are no elements of excellence or originality in the student’s contribution, or deficiencies are just enough to balance the positive parts of the performance; (C- C)
20-24: The performance presents some good points but is not fully developed or it shows some serious deficiency, though having a good general standard; (C+ B- B)
24-28: The performance is good or very good, but some or several weak points prevent it from reaching a top grade. (B+ A-)
28-30: Very good, no flaws, some or several original elements (A)
30 cum laude: excellent under any aspect, original and outstanding (A+)

Strumenti a supporto della didattica

Lessons will be taught with multimedia tools and with screenings (with analysis) of entire films or single parts of movies related to the subject.
