Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

At the end of the course the student will know how to manage innovation and sustainability in the chemical business. The student will learn the guidelines of entrepreneurship and will become familiar with the problems to be faced and solutions found when starting a new enterprise. He/she will become skilled in performing business plan activities for boosting innovation in chemical industry. The student is expected to be able to: 1. manage innovation issues in chemical industries; 2. contribute to prepare and manage a business plan; 3. foster the establishment of new enterprises.

Contenuti

The CU will be made of three modules with the following contents:

(1) Business Planning

This module will introduce students to basic concepts on management and entrepreneurship. It describes and illustrates the process oriented perspective in entrepreneurship and business planning. It introduces students to key issues for a successful entrepreneurial activity: opportunity exploitation, planning and managing new ventures, management skills and sustainability. It introduces the role of finance in new venture creation

(2) Innovation Management

1. Basic concepts on innovation

2. Technology management

3. Indicators of innovation

4. Ten types of innovations

5. Creativity and innovation

6. Open innovation and co-creation

7. Responsible Research and Innovation

(3) Entrepreneurship

The module will introduce students from science majors to basic concepts on entrepreneurship. It describes and illustrates the process oriented perspective in entrepreneurship from idea generation to opportunity evaluation and organization. It provides students with a method to explore entrepreneurial opportunities.

Metodi didattici

The course unit is divided in three modules.

Each module is organized in theoretical classes where main concepts are explained, as well as tutorial classes with discussion of case-study examples.

Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento

Each module is assessed independently through homework assignments (20%) and a written assignment (80%). The Curricular Unit grade will be the arithmetic mean of grades from the three modules.
