Work experience

2005- Assistant professor (UD) at TU Delft - 1 fte (tenured)
Field of expertise: Structural Integrity, i.e. static strength, fatigue, durability, damage
tolerance and maintenance aspects of aerospace materials and structures. This includes
metallic materials, hybrid materials and composite materials.
2004-2005 Researcher at TU Delft - 1 fte (tenured)
Field of expertise: Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) of Fibre Metal Laminates
(FMLs). The work included work and project responsibility for
- Project on characterization of fatigue initiation and crack propagation behaviour of FMLs
under various crack and loading configurations. In conjunction, the F&DT Toolbox that
Airbus uses for certification of FML structures was further developed.
- Project to investigate the effect of laser cutting aluminium sheets for FMLs on the
fatigue initiation behaviour together with Stork Fokker.
During this year, the PhD thesis was written and defended with success.
2001-2004 Researcher at Fibre Metal Laminates Centre of Competence (FMLC) - 1 fte (tenured)
Field of Expertise: F&DT of FMLs. Being specialist in and responsible for
-Projects on method development for fatigue, crack propagation and residual strength
topics
-Projects aiming at development of new FMLs and FML concepts
-2 Project definitions for European 6th FW Programme of which one (DIALFAST) has been
successfully accomplished.
1999-2001 Researcher at TU Delft - 1 fte (first fixed-term, but later changed in tenured)
Field of expertise: F&DT aspects of the FML Glare for the Airbus A380 within the national
research programmes GTO (‘Glare Technologie Ontwikkeling') and GRP (‘Glare Research
Programme'); with in addition, the development of preliminary design principles for FML
structures.
