Summer School of Italian Language and Culture – Edition 2014

The University of Bologna organizes every year Summer Courses of Italian Language and Culture for foreign students, where tuition in class is combined with an afternoon program of cultural trips and activities. Students can learn Italian language, both written and oral, by getting into direct contact with the traditions and culture of the territory.

Students interested in applying for these courses can choose among three different course-options: a two-week intensive course for beginners; a three-week course for beginners, intermediate and advanced; a combination of both courses, for a total duration of five weeks.

Dates

1st Module: Intensive Summer School in Italian Language and Culture for Beginners, June 23th - July 4th, 2014

An intensive two-week course for beginners and absolute beginners (A1, A2, B1 levels). Scheduled as follows:

  • 50 hours of tuition in class (morning and sometimes afternoon);
  • 4 hours of cultural visits/activities (afternoon);
  • optional week-end field-trip;
  • the assignment of ECTS credit is not foreseen; anyway, the teaching activities correspond to 3 ECTS credits;
  • tuition fee: EURO 400.00.

2nd Module: Summer School in Italian Language and Culture, July 7th to 25th, 2014

A three-week course (A1 and all superior levels). Scheduled as follows:

  • 50 hours of tuition in class (morning);
  • 10 hours of cultural visits/activities (afternoon);
  • 2 optional week-end field-trips;
  • the assignment of ECTS credit is not foreseen; anyway, the teaching activities correspond to 5 ECTS credits;
  • tuition fee: EURO 600.00.

Complete Course, June 23th - July 25th, 2014: a combination of  1st and 2nd Module, for a total duration of 5 weeks

  • Tuition fee: EURO 1,000.00.

Students having attended for at least 70% of the School’s Program (tuition and cultural visits/activities) shall be awarded by a final Certificate of Attendance.

Venue

Courses will take place from Monday to Friday at the School of Foreing   Languages and Literature, Interpreting and Translation, situated in Via Filippo Re 8, in the heart of the university life, closed to the city centre and to the main cultural attractions.

Accommodation

Students who need accommodation can find a place in the Residence Galaxy, good connected with the city centre and the course venue, or alternatively in hotels or apartments.

Please specify in the description of payment: Summer School of Italian Language and Culture 2014, and the Module chosen within 10 days before the beginning of the course.

Other requirements

Students must be aged 18 years or older at the moment of the on-line application and have got a higher school diploma.

Courses are open to students (undergraduate and post-graduate) and non-students alike and will take place only if a minimum number of participants will apply.

In case the courses are not activated, only the course fee (not travel tickets) already paid will be refunded.
In case the courses take place and the student will not attend, the course fee already paid will not be refunded.

Each student has to self-evaluate his/her Italian language skills according to proposed grid (see the attachment).
This self-evaluation is the first step of the whole evaluation procedure that the student will complete on the first day of School in Bologna.
