Programme profile

Specific learning outcomes of the Programme

The 2nd cycle degree programme in “Planning and managing educational intervention in social distress” offers advanced training in the fields of psycho-pedagogical, socio-anthropological and historical-legal sciences, as well as providing skills in planning, management, evaluation and training in the fields of prevention, rehabilitation, reduction of distress and social inclusion.

The 2nd cycle degree programme in “Planning and managing educational intervention in social distress” thus aims to provide special training, producing graduates able to manage, design and coordinate work in institutions (communities, social housing, group homes, social services, day centres, local services, social inclusion services) providing specific education and training services to manage individual distress (linked for example to drug addiction, alcohol abuse, marginality, risk of psycho-social deviance in minors, etc.) and social distress and marginality linked to phenomena of migration in our multicultural society, specifically in contexts marked by the progressive explosion of social and cultural differences.

For this purpose, the programme focuses on the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical strategies to tackle critical situations of psycho-social distress in children, adolescents, adults and seniors; it is also linked to the multicultural contexts and migratory processes characterising modern society.

Particular attention is paid to learning activities studying the main psycho-pedagogical, socio-anthropological and historical-legal paradigms, acquiring skills in the planning, management, coordination and assessment of education and training in the fields of distress and social inclusion, as well as skills in managing and coordinating work groups, and knowing what type of training to propose to educational workers operating in these contexts.

Graduates in Planning and managing educational intervention in social distress complete their studies with knowledge of a foreign language to level B2. Study may include both the acquisition of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and compulsory attendance of lessons, following the criteria specified by the degree programme in line with the guidelines of the Academic Bodies.

The learning activities include internships with institutions providing services in the field of social and educational rehabilitation, social inclusion and damage reduction (communities, social housing, group homes, social inclusion and damage reduction services).
