Learning outcomes

The course has three objectives: knowledge of mainstream theories regarding the impact of globalization and international trade on nation- states; critical analysis of stengths and weaknesses of such theories; understanding of similarities and differences in industrialized nations' ‘ability to respond to international pressures. At the end of the course students will be able to interpret the transformations of modern nation- states; students will possess analytical and critical skills to evaluate arguments and counter-arguments about the relationships between global forces and national borders.

Teaching methods

There will be 20 extra hours of teaching on methods of collecting and presenting research results for students who will discuss their papers during the term.

Assessment methods

Mid-term exam  is worth 50% of final grade. Oral exam is worth 50% of final grade.
