Learning outcomes

The course focuses on the sociological analysis of the migratory processes and the transformations of the structure and culture of a target society, leading to the so called multiethnic society.

The analysis of the migratory processes and the challenges of the multiethnic society are considered both from a theoretical point of view and from the empiric one. We are attempting to go further a mere sociographic perspective or of an extemporary social intervention, in the direction of the knowledge and explanation of the effects of the present phenomena of the human space-time mobility. We will make use of a number of contributions coming from a long tradition of studies and researches, namely the “classics” and the lately ones. Finally four empiric researches will be presented and debated. Though different for objects, methods and techniques, they are thought and realized starting from the relation between migration and host-society and the problems rising from it.
