Learning outcomes

At the end of the lessons of Persian Language executions the student will be able to use pleasantries, introduce himself or other people in a simple way, describe various living or working conditions, everyday situations, making use of simple expressions based on the learned structures.

Written Production: the student will be able to write a series of simple sentences making use of the learned structures and expressions.

Listening Comprehension: the student will be able to understand enough to meet needs of a concrete and elementary type, provided that they are spoken slowly and clearly.

Written text comprehension: the student will be able to understand short, simple texts of familiar content and concrete type, formulated in the language that frequently occurs in everyday life.

Course contents

These Persian Language Exercises, given by Dr. Zahra Eghtedari (zahra.eghtedari2@unibo.it), are an integral part of the Persian Language and Culture course and borrowed courses (Persian 1, Persian Language and Literature, Persian Language and Linguistics) by Prof. Nahid Norozi

These Exercises are open not only to students in the bachelor's and master's degree programs pertaining to the Department of Modern Languages Literatures and Cultures (LILEC), but also to students in other bachelor's (ARCO, SVIC) and master's (Historical and Oriental Sciences) degrees

Presentation of the basic structures of the Neopersian language

Alphabet. Morphology: the noun, formation of the plural, indeterminative article, indefinite possessive demonstrative interrogative adjectives and pronouns, formation of the comparative-superlative, cardinal and ordinal numbers, adverb, preposition, coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, simple verb tenses, state construct (ezafé).

Spoken and written language, hints of syntax (sentence structure, use of -ra).

Writing exercises and reading of easy passages.

listening exercises

elementary conversation on given topics.

Teaching methods

Lectures (presentation of morphology), group and pair work (for exercises)

Assessment methods

At the end of the course in Persian Language and Culture (for students of the LILEC department)/Persian 1 (for students of the DISCI department)/Persian Language and Literature 1 (for students of the DISCI department), there will be two separate examinations, a written test of Language and an oral test of Literature. The written test is followed, on the same day as the examination, by a short oral interview. For the contents of the examination, see above: 'Course Contents' and 'Readings/Bibliography'. The final grade will result from the arithmetic average of the marks obtained in the two parts.

Students who attend at least 75% of the lessons are considered to be attending.
