Learning outcomes

The workshop is designed to provide students with transversal skills that can prove useful in their future careers. The objective of the workshop is to help students to practice skills through application in the domain of development, sustainability and peace studies. The workshop provides students with knowledge of the link between climate change and conflict and focuses on the challenges of designing policies that aim at sustainable solutions that mitigate the effects of climate crises. It does so by focusing on developing countries and looking at International, national, and local level policies. At the end of the course students will be able to 1. identify the key interactions between development, sustainability, and conflict; 2. analyze policies implemented to address the major challenges in this field.

Course contents

The workshop will include lectures and group work. After the presentation of some of the main problems in the subject matter of the course, students will be asked to work in groups on specific issues and papers proposed by the journals in the bibliography.

Readings/Bibliography

No specific manuals are provided. The work will be based on papers from the scholarly journals Ecological Economics, Sustainability, Review of Environmental Economics and Policy, Journal of Peace Research, Political Geography, International Studies Review.

On line Lectures, group work, Design Thinking.

Assessment methods

The on line lab provides an entitlement, which is obtained through classroom work. Attendance is 70% required.
