The students acquire methodological and application-oriented skills to integrate their knowledge in the topics of the Chemistry and Biochemistry lectures.

Qualitative and quantitative study (through UV-vis spectrophotometry) of enzymatic activity.

Teaching methods

Lecture (2 hours) on the general issues related to laboratory activity. As concerns the teaching methods of this course unit, all students must attend Module 1, 2 online, while Module 3 on health and safety is to be attended in class. Information about Module 3 attendance schedule is available on the website of your degree programme.

The course is aimed at verifying through experiments some of the topics presented during the lectures of general biochemistry.

Assessment methods

Practical exercises are helpful for the Chemistry and Biochemistry exam.

Report with graphics and calculations (vmax and km for lactase) is required (upload on Virtuale https://virtuale.unibo.it before the exam of Chemistry and General Biochemistry and in any case before February 28th). Each student will receive the corrected report.
