Learning outcomes

The course aims to offer analysis tools and operational techniques for financial trading in a simulation approach through investment decisions based on the elements of economics, statistics and finance learned in other courses and developed in the trading game laboratory with operational purposes; individual or group investment decisions define the portfolios that are managed by each on the basis of the techniques learned in the laboratory. In particular, the student will develop the knowledge of technical analysis; analysis of the national and international situation; - quantitative analysis of micro and macro data (the so-called fundamental analysis); sentiment analysis; volatility analysis; - risk analysis; analysis of arbitrage opportunities; expert trading system and visual trader. At the end of the course, the student knows the main tools for trading, is able to: develop rigorous financial strategies, define trading strategies with respect to precise objective functions, make rational decisions based on the analysis of financial data.

Course contents

During the lessons, a trading competition will be held on the Borsa Italiana website with a virtual € 50,000.

The three students with the best performance win a cup.

Students can buy all the shares listed on the Italian Stock Exchange and also the Exchange Trade Funds - ETFs - also leveraged.

It will not be possible to buy derivative instruments such as futures, options, covered warrants or certificates.

Readings/Bibliography

During the lessons sufficient handouts will be given to prepare for the exam. In addition, there are some textbooks recommended by the teacher to deepen the topics of interest.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons.

During the lessons, the professor will evaluate the performance of the students' portfolios, taking a cue to comment on the topics of the lesson.

Multiple choice written exam.

For each lesson, sufficient ppt material is provided to prepare for the exam.
