Learning outcomes

The student acquires the appropriate knowledge of the term "translational medicine" by discussing this concept as applied in the ophthalmology field. The most common meaning refers to the ability to translate results derived from pre-clinical research setting into patient care, and applications on eye diseases, with a focus on glaucoma, will be dealt with.

The eye as a window of systemic and neurodegenerative diseases

The role of high tech functionality and imaging measures in eye diseases

Biomarkers of systemic and neurodegenerative diseases in the ocular fluids

Neurodegenerative mechanisms and frontiers for neuroprotection in glaucoma

Teaching methods

The teaching consists of 1 CFU (in-person lectures).

Assessment methods

Class attendance (66 %) is a prerequisite for eligibility.
