Learning outcomes

Aim of the course is to improve the skills and abilities the learners have developed in the previous academic terms, i.e. : terminology and glossaries, gatekeeping skills and and interaction with the parts.

Course contents

Half of the lessons will focus on simulations of dialogue interpreting about topics of medium linguistic difficulty and will cover various subjects, i.e. business-related and general knowledge. Each topic will be introduced by a preliminary lesson to allow an adequate preparation for a specific role play.

After each role play, students serving as interpreters will receive a detailed, accurate feedback focusing on their strengths, as well as recommendations for improvement.

Teaching methods

In class, students will serve as interpreters in interpreting sessions dealing with topics prepared at home and discussed within class. Excellent knowledge of Italian and German is mandatory.

Assessment methods

In a final oral exam, students will be tested in a dialogue interpreting simulation on topics dealt with in the module.
The oral exam will last approx. 15 minutes and will involve both the main and the supporting teacher. Students will be tested in their language and communicative skills according to evaluation criteria thoroughly discussed in class.

Teaching tools

The Virtuale platform is a repository where students can find all the materials used in class as well as more documents and real videos for additional individual training.

Ad hoc glossaries will be key - as they are a sine qua non when preparing for classes and will becompiled using Google Drive
