Learning outcomes

Discuss the epidemiology of sedentary and its adverse effects on health and wellness. Discuss the role of physical activity and sport as prevention and treatment of the main diseases in developed countries. Discuss the methodology of prescribing physical activity as prevention and treatment of diseases.

Course contents

- The prescription of physical exercise: physical activity, sedentary lifestyle, weight and obesity

- The functional evaluation: VO2 max, anaerobic threshold, theoretical calculation of the maximum heart rate.

- Physical, sporting and specific activity in paraphysiological and pathological conditions: growth, elderly and frailty, pregnancy, hypertension, coronary artery disease, stroke, heart failure, diabetes, obesity, COPD, oncological diseases, psychiatric diseases,

- Basics of nutrition and food supplementation.

- Exercise heatstroke and frostbite.

Teaching methods

Discussion of clinical cases supported by theoretical notions and peer-reviewed bibliography.
