Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student possesses the term relating to taking charge of the person and his family in the context of specific priority health problems with particular regard to the preventive, rehabilitative and educational aspects also in the context of the community. It develops the therapeutic relationship as a shared intervention tool in the multidisciplinary context. It identifies, plans and evaluates assistance interventions and collaborates with other professional figures in the diagnostic-therapeutic paths.

Course contents

Historical notes and fundamental legislative stages of mental health care.

Organization of the Mental Health Departments and of the places of care.

Mental health nursing process

Theoretical reference models and the concept of health promotion, prevention and mental health care

Nursing care in major psychiatric disorders.

Psychomotor agitation, aggressive behaviors, de-escalation techniques.

Prevention of suicidal behaviors in the care setting.

The phenomenon of mental health restraint.

Psychopharmacology: nursing responsibilities and care problems
