Course contents
This course will be a reflection on communication and what happens when we talk. During classes we will explore anything to do with discourse – discourse analysis, conversational analysis, cross cultural pragmatics etc. but especially focus on contextual meaning and speakers' intentions in diverse situations ranging from face to face talk to phone calls and zoom talks.

Lectures in which active student participation is strongly encouraged.
Assessment methods
A short written and an oral component will be based on course content.

Depending on what the semester holds in terms of Covid19 restrictions, Prof. Chiaro will provide short podcasts of all the subjects discussed in class.
