Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student:

- is able to design a detailed training program: in the short-, middle-, and long-term; in the different stages of the preparation; for different types of sports; specifying the load characteristics in relation with the individual performance, the age, the level of specialization, and the gender.

- is able to use informatic tools to collect training and test data for performance and fitness monitoring, with the aim of producing in real-time a computerized data base

-is able to use advanced tools for real-time monitoring of endurance, strength, power and quickness training and to individuate with appropriate devices overreaching and overtraining conditions

-is able to select and use different types of special exercises useful to improve the different conditional capacities

-knows the main topics related to training in hypoxic or other particular environmental conditions

  • Basis and principles of sports training and introduction to load monitoring
  • Internal load monitoring
  • External load monitoring
  • Analyzing and using data obtained from training monitoring
  • Recovery monitoring and overtraining prevention
  • Training periodization of the different physical capacities
  • Training planning in the short, middle and long term
  • Designing and compiling a training plan in competitive athletes

Fronctal lectures and practical lessons

Assessment methods

Oral examination with two questions. The examination concerns only the material seen during the lectures. The contents of the suggested books related to parts not seen during the lectures will not be required.
