Learning outcomes

Knowdlege of the European union Institutions, their competence, their acts and their effect in the italian legal system

Course contents

The structure, objectives and fundamental values of the European Union; the institutions of the European union, the role of the national Parliaments and the subsidiarity principle; the sources of the European Union law; the European Court of Justice, the General Court and the national judges; the EU fundamental principles and values; the impact of the European union Law on national legal orders and the constitutional implications related to it; the basic freedoms and the principle of mutual recognition; the EU citizenship; the competition law and the State Aids; the economic and monetary policy and the case law concerning it; the coordination between the Union and the and the intergovernmental cooperation between the Member States for the safeguard of the euro zone; the area of freedom, security and justice and the fundamental rights of individuals.

Lectures with the discussion of case law and practical cases about the subject.

Assessment methods

The assessment of students takes place through an oral examination designed to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the student during the course and the critical analysis developed by the studying of case law.

Teaching tools

Lectures will be supported by the presentation of slides throgh the use of the projector and the PC.
