85437 - Introduction to the Concept Bobath (IM)

Academic Year 2021/2022

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Physiotherapy (cod. 8476)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student acquires knowledge of basic neurophysiological principles of the Bobath concept related to tone modulation and functional recovery guide activities. He acquires skills through simulated activities of postural passages and trunk and limb activities for subjects with stroke diagnoses.

Course contents

The Bobath concept is a problem solving approach to evaluating and treating people with motion, postural, and function disorders, caused by a central nervous system injury. The rationale for its application is rooted in current neuroscientific knowledge of motor control, motor learning, neural and muscular plasticity and current biomechanical knowledge.
Course Content:
- promote the evidence based approach based on an up-to-date literature
- provide useful elements for the observation and evaluation of the neurological patient
- provide useful elements to the treatment of the neurological patient
- support the discussion and discussion between participants and lecturers and train clinical reasoning

N.B. In consideration of the types of activities and teaching methods adopted, the attendance of this training activity requires all students to carry out modules 1 and 2 in e-learning mode and to participate in the third specific training module on safety and health in places of study / internship.
