37575 - Building Design and Drafting T 1

Academic Year 2021/2022

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Ravenna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Building Engineering (cod. 9199)

Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide fundmental theoretical knowledge of geometrical and graphic techniques and methods to represent architectural elements.

Course contents

Teaching is developed through theoretical lessons and practical exercises, dealing with the topics discussed in the lessons, considering the dual theoretical and practical experience required for the assimilation of the contents and the experimentation of the specificities of the representation of the elements of architecture.

Graphic exercises are divided into ex-tempores, which will take place mainly with manual techniques according to the schedule provided in the attached calendar, and the "annual" exercise, to be conducted in parallel with the course, in groups of 2 people as CAD technical drawing.

Drawing materials - Drawing tools and graphic techniques (drawings); stretch technique.

Teaching methods

The course is organized in theoretical frontal lessons combined with a series of application exercises on the acquired notions on given objects. Supplementary documentation and graphic material will be provided by the lecturer.

Exercises are the founding part of the exam, which considers the experience of drawing a crucial moment of active learning by the student, that can not be replaced by a purely theoretical approach.

Graphic exercises are divided into ex-tempores, which will take place mainly with manual techniques according to the schedule provided in the attached calendar, and the "annual" exercise, to be conducted in parallel with the course, in groups of 2 people as CAD technical drawing.

Assessment methods

The exam is divided into a written test - with exercises concerning the topics covered in the lessons - and an oral exam - in which the exercises and the drawings produced during the course will be exhibited and evaluated.

Students who have completed all ex-tempore testings during the year with a positive result and who will complete the full exam in the winter session will be exempted from the written test.

The evaluation will be based on the knowledge of the contents discussed in the lessons and included in the bibliography and on the elaborated products (A3 exercise tables related to the themes of the frontal lessons, annual exercise, final graphic test, if not exempted).

N.B .: exemption from the final graphic test is granted only to those who have participated in all the exercises provided by the Course. For those who have been away for a maximum of two days, an extra graphical test will be scheduled.

The absence from the course's activities for more than two exercises will not allow direct access to the oral evaluation - a written graphic test (once per session) and an oral examination will be required.
