Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has a basic preparation on the techniques of support to the infant dentist in the management of the patient in the developmental age. The course has as main objectives the acquisition of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills and clinical criteria for the prevention and treatment of odontostomatological diseases in childhood. In particular, the student is able to: communicate effectively with the child and his family; To know the development and growth of the cephalic region; To recognize the most frequent odontostomatological pathologies in the developmental age (caries, dental anomalies, malocclusions, periodontal diseases, mucous pathologies, dental lesions of traumatic origin), to know the correlations between systemic pathologies and oral pathologies, to know the psychology of the developmental age and to practice a adequate behavioral approach to the treatment of odontostomatological pathologies, to know the prevention of odonto-stomatological pathologies and to use the motivation, information and instruction techniques, to interpret the clinical signs and the instrumental examinations for an effective orthopedic-orthodontic prevention, to carry out a correct plan therapeutic pathology cariosa, pulpopathies and periapical diseases of deciduous and permanent teeth, implement the control of pain and anxiety in the dental field in the developmental age, having acquired specific knowledge in the field of local anesthesia, conscious sedation and na rcosi; To carry out a correct pharmacological therapy of the odontostomatological pathologies in the developmental age, having acquired specific knowledge on the drugs prescribed in the developmental age; Manage and prevent dento-alveolar lesions of traumatic origin; Carry out a correct therapeutic plan of the pathologies of surgical competence, having acquired the knowledge on special surgery in the developmental age.

Teaching methods
The teaching consists of lectures. The lessons, based on the principles of medical teaching, provide for a close interaction between teacher and students.
Assessment methods
The final exam consists of a written test, concerning the resolution of a clinical case and an oral test to verify the acquisition of the knowledge provided by the program.
