Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows how to recognize the different phases of the languages, religions and cultures of muslim countries. He has the knowledge and methodological tools to understand and analyze the interaction between muslim principles and the various articulations of muslim thought.

FIRST SEMESTER COURSE (also valid, where such a mutuation is foreseen by the course of study followed, for History of Islamic countries and similar, for which however see separate bibliography)


THREE LESSONS PER WEEK


General part. Development of Islamic religious thought from its origins until the end of the Abbasid era. Juridical, theological, mystical schools until the arrival of the Timurids.


Special part. Commented reading of passages by Muslim mystical authors (Ansari of Herat, Najm al-din Kubrà, Ahmad Ghazali, Abu Yazid al-Bistami)
