Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will: - know some of the formal and non-formal learning processes as well as the social and cultural conditioning of lifelong learning; - be able to understand and analyze norms and documents relating to welfare and lifelong learning policies; - know how to understand sociological research materials in the field; - be able to find, read and interpret some of the sources and statistical data relating to lifelong learning; - be able to independently develop professional skills by identifying and using appropriate paths and methods of technical-professional upgrading.

Course contents

The first part (Prof. Tuorto) addresses some issues of the sociology of welfare state with particular reference to Italy. The second part (prof. Ghigi) will focus instead on vocational training and its various applications in the Italian case. We will focus on gender mainstreaming in welfare policies, especially by stressing the importance of women's participation on the labour market, work-life balance and on competency trap.

Assessment methods

Two written tests (one for each part of the course) for both attending and non attending students. Please contact the teachers (prof. Tuorto and Prof. Ghigi) at the end of each part to book the exams.
