- will develop relational skills that allow to collaborate within teams composed by other professional figures.

Course contents

Introductory information on the history of social psychology will be provided together with basic introduction to the main epistemological approaches of the discipline theoretical constructs and research paradigms. A great deal of attention will be payed to the procesess of knowledge formation and social reality representation. Then, the more pragmatic aspects of social behaviour will be considered such as communication and the bases of altruistic and aggressive behaviour. The course will then address issues regarding the self and identity. Moreover, topics reffering to group life will be addressed highliting both intragroup and intergroup processes. Additionally, social influence processes will be considered. Finally, main principles of social psychology will be applied to the study of adolescence.

These contents are highly relevant for the training of Social Workers who, in their professional practice, will work in a team and will interact with individuals belonging to different groups. Therefore, it is necessary that they understand social processes that underlie interpersonal, intragroup, and intergroup relationships.
