Learning outcomes

The student - knows the basic elements (lexical-grammatical) of Italian sign language LIS , with hints of regional varieties - He/she is able to use them in elementary communicative situations.

Course contents

The student - knows the basic elements (lexical-grammatical) of Italian sign language LIS , with hints of regional varieties - He/she is able to use them in elementary communicative situations.
The programme includes an introduction to sign language linguistics and in particular to Italian Sign Language. The lessons will focus on classical aspects of phonology and morphosyntax, pragmatics and some sociolinguistic aspects.

In addition, there will be hints about the translation and interpretation of sign languages towards vowels and vice versa, links with the reading and writing of deaf people.
