Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will be able: a) to know the types of games and the main educational models and methods in order to the game as a pedagogical and educational device, both in school and extra school; b) to acquire an adequate knowledge of the educational values of sport, of its cultural and educational models; c) how to manage sports activities with subjects in the age of development through pedagogically correct forms and relationships.

Course contents

The course aims to provide the basic knowledge about cultural and educational models that relate the many expressions of game and sports, seen as educational experiences. The play/game, in their relationships and in their specificities, will be analyzed both as a spontaneous and natural activity, as well as a pedagogical device in the school and in the extraschool. Starting from the play as human activity in its natural and cultural aspects, we will try to define the identity of play/game in childhood, and its changes, starting from the main contributions of the scientific literature. The sport will be analyzed as evolution of the human game, that defines also cultural identity and pedagogical setting.
