Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will acquire scientific knowledge of the pathophysiology of physical activity, and in particular physical activity applied to patients with cardiovascular diseases with special reference to clinical diagnosis and treatment. The student will be able to: recognize the signs and symptoms of major cardiovascular diseases and to refer physical exercise more 'suitable to patients with cardiovascular conditions. The student will develop an in-depth knowledge on cardiovascular adaptation to exercise both in normal individuals, athletes and in patients with cardiovascular disease. Will be addressed specifically the issues related to the risks of heart disease and sports activities in specific problems related to the issue by the competent authorities of the certificate of fitness. They will also be acquired specific knowledge about the methods and techniques most suitable for the functional evaluation of the cardiovascular system in athletes, with particular attention to the protection of health.

The final exam will be an oral exam consisting of a minimum of two, or possibly more questions on the obligatory readings (books and lecture notes) focusing on the educational objectives and topics of the course of Cardiology
