Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student has basic knowledge of geometric components and Regulations for the design of roads. He is able to organize an infrastructure project and to independently meet some practical applications: cost analysis, environmental integration, safety. He knows the fundamental elements of the pavements and related materials. Finally, is able to deal with issues related to the design, control and management of road pavements and earthworks for transport infrastructure.

Teaching methods

Lessons and team (2-3 students) works. A digital terrain model is assigned and the students design a small road project, also by CAD (no road drawing plugins). Print copies aren't required, students can deliver a CD.

Assessment methods

-Partial written exams (n. 3 for 12 CFU) during the course. Partials are strongly recommended.

The results of partial exams are taken into account to pass the complete exam; passing only two (2/3 for 12 CFU) partial exams, the student gets the right to a reduced oral exam.

Or, for those who do not pass the partial exams: -Single, oral general exam.

Teaching tools

Digital projector. Demonstrations in the LAS laboratory (Laboratory of Roads DICAM), showing the test equipments described in the lectures.
