Academic Year 2019/2020

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Physiotherapy (cod. 8476)

Learning outcomes

After completing this module the student will have the ability to apply knowledge and understanding about the preventive and rehabilitative needs of the subject with neurolesion through the various functional evaluation methods.

Course contents

Methodology of clinical reasoning.

The functional diagnosis with the ICF model.

The collection of medical history and psychosocial factors interesting for the therapeutic-rehabilitative analysis.

The observation and the assessment of the functional systems in the subject with neurolesion:

- the assessment of the structural and functional integrity and its menomations;

- the assessment of the activities and their limitations;

- the assessment of participation in social life and its restrictions;

- the assessment of contextual factors: environment and people (facilitators or barriers).

- characteristics of the measurement scales (basics of classical psychometrics);

- levels of measurement (nominal scales, ordinal, at intervals, on rapports);

- composite and multidimensional scales (profiles and inex);

- the timing of measurement.

The outcome measures:

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons and simulations.

Assessment methods

The test is intended to verify the acquisition of the objectives of the course:

- to know the preventive and rehabilitative needs of the subject with neurolesion;

- to know the various functional evaluation methods;

- to know the main assessment tools.

The test, in a written form, will be considered valid by the correct answer to five questions relating the main topics covered during the course and clinical cases.

In the evaluation of the responses of the candidate, it will pay particular attention when assessing the acquisition of a clinical reasoning and a logical-deductive method of contents.

During the test is not allowed the use of support material such as handouts or notes.
