Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows the knowledge of state legislation concerning the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage, the organization of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and the provisions contained in the Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape (Decree january 22, 2004, n. 4

Course contents

1. Historical evolution of the legislation on cultural heritage.

2. Constitutional principles.

3. The distinction beetwen the "protection" and the "promotion" of cultural property.

4. The Ministry for Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism and his organization.

5. The notion of cultural property and its distinctions.

6. The metods of identification.

7. The conservation and restoration of cultural property. The job of "restorer" of cultural property.

8. Internal and international circulation of the cultural property.

9. Archaeological research and discoveries.

10. The management of cultural heritage and the collective enjoyment.

11. The criminal and administrative sanctions.

12. The international protection of cultural heritage (in particular the UNESCO).

13. Study cases about the restoration of cultural property
