The Adapted Physical Exercise (EFA) can be defined as the regular and constant practice of a motor activity, in which parameters are evaluated, programmed, established and dosed as:  intensity, duration, frequency and specificity . This Administration must be performed, as a rule and in particular cases, through collaboration with various professionals in the healthcare sector. The concept of  EFA  it represents the overcoming of the traditional "training", on the basis of which however key notions and principles persist, deriving from the training methodology. The general criterion is to take care of people presenting risk factors and suffering from pathological conditions. Such people can benefit from properly prescribed and controlled exercise. Furthermore, the objective is to experiment with prevention and treatment programs based on physical exercise, preparing the organizational methods in which both the prescription of physical activity, personalized on the characteristics of the individual, and the administration through that guarantee the achievement and maintenance over time of the prescribed activity levels. At the end of the course, the student: - has competences on the primary function that the adapted physical exercise plays in the context of sedentariness and aging process, in particular on the progressive decrease of the physical adaptation and performance abilities of the individual - knows the therapeutic function of physical activity and its specializations, through the analysis of specific topics, in the improvement of a lifestyle related to cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic diseases. It is able to identify and differentiate the moments of prevention and compensation and to apply teaching methods adapted to the age and to transfer its knowledge in the application field and then to elaborate an individualized working protocol. These topics are developed in order to involve competent professionals in the various clinical sectors and with research tools.
