Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will have a preparation that allows primary prevention in conservative dentistry and endodontics. In particular, the student will be able to: recognize and use properly the main instruments and materials used for primary prevention in endodontics-conservative; appropriately know the main materials used in conservative and endodontics; diagnose the main diseases that require a conservative treatment and endodontics; recognize and treat dentin hypersensitivity; schedule simple interventions of conservative dentistry and endodontics; implement all the principals of primary prophylaxis; ?perform polishing of restorations.
Course contents
dental materials: dentin adhesives, composites, cements, waxes, resins, toothpastes, impression material.
Anatomy of teeth and endodontic channel of the permanent elements and deciduous teeth.
Techniques and conservative concepts. 1,2,3,4,5 classes Black
carious lesion diagnosis and endodontic.
endodontic concepts. Definition of endodontics and restorative dentistry.
carious lesions. Complication of caries lesions. Pulp and apical-periapical diseases.
Purpose and goals of conservative rehabilitation. Conservative techniques with the use of amalgam and with use of composite materials: basic principles and properties.
Classification of dentin bonding systems and clinical indications for their use. Smear layer. Techniques of etching enamel and dentin.
Classifications of composite resins Stratification of composite resins.
Classification of glass-ionomer cements and their clinical indications.
Dentinal hypersensitivity. Treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity. Differential diagnosis.
History and compilation of medical records of conservative and endodontics (with particular reference to practical exercises)
Diseases of the dental pulp: acute pulpitis, chronic pulpitis. Other pulp diseases
