Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is able to understand the biochemical processes that are the basis of the functions of the following tissues: Liver; Blood Cells and Vascular Cells, Skeletal and Cardiac Muscle Tissue; Adipose tissue; Bone tissue, Nervous tissue.

Course contents

Nervous tissue: Main metabolic pathways of nerve and glial cells.
Blood cells: Metabolic pathways and functions of erythrocytes, platelets, polymorphonucleate cells.
Vascular Tissue: Metabolic and functional aspects of smooth blood vessels endothelial cells and muscles. Major mediators of vascular tone control.
Bone tissue: The role of bone tissue cells in the mechanisms of osteogenesis and osteolysis.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons.

Assessment methods

Verification of learning takes place through the final exam that ensures the acquisition of the knowledge and skills expected through the conduct of a written test, followed by correction in the presence of the student and explanation of the mistakes made. The test is to answer a few questions about the C.I. Human Systemic Biochemistry. The final evaluation is expressed as a suitability for acquiring knowledge through the integrated course. The attendance rate is verified by appending the signature of the student on the attendance sheet.
