Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student is able to know the anatomical structure of the body areas (organs, bones, muscles, joints, vessels, nerves) which are the main targets of the occupational and environmental risk factors

Course contents

General anatomy: anatomical terminology, planes and axes of human body. Motion terms. Notions of Histology.

The Integumentary system: skin and its appendages (glands, hair, nails)

The muscolo-skeletal system: generality about bones, joints and muscles, the axial skeleton and skull; the appendicolar skeleton (bones, joints and main muscles).

The cardiovascular system. Heart (internal and external configuration and structure) .the large and small circulation

The lymphatic system: general characteristics of lymphatic circulation; structure of the major lymphoid organs

The respiratory system: Generality about respiratory tract (nasal cavity, larynx, trachea and bronchi); lungs.

The digestive system: oral cavity, tongue, salivary glands. Pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines. Liver and biliary tract. Pancreas

The urinary system: kidney, ureter, bladder, urethra

The male and female reproductive system: testes, epididymis, prostate. Ovary, fallopian tube, uterus

The endocrine system. Overview of the main endocrine glands.

The nervous system: overview

Teaching methods

The lectures were held at Imola and will be supported by Power Point slides in order to facilitate the acquisition of fundamental anatomical basis

Assessment methods

The oral examination at the end of the course aims to assess the achievement of the defined objectives. The student must show that he understands the structure of the human organism in its basic features for survival of the individual. The final vote of the entire integrated course of Biomedical Sciences will be defined as the average of the marks obtained in the individual modules (Biology, Anatomy, Physiology).

Teaching tools

Plastic of the various apparatus organs (eg. The locomotor: skeleton, circulatory: heart etc.). Computer for projection of classroom lessons.
