Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has the conceptual and practical preparation to carry out a clinical visit monitoring the oral cavity. He/she is able to recognize and use the instruments needed during a dental visit oriented to Dental Hygienist competences. In particular, the student is able to: Observe the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity including the lips and perioral areas and recognize the anatomy, health and pathological conditions.  Recognize and know how to properly use the instruments necessary for the visit and the intraoral diagnosis. Know and be able to detect the main clinical indexes and be able to give the correct meaning to data from diagnostic and functional monitoring of the patient.  Recognize, know how to use and choose correctly the instruments necessary for the detection of the main parameters related to health and disease dento-gingival. Knowing how to indicate the times and the procedures for monitoring the individual patient. Know and be able to fill in the medical record of competence dental hygienist.

Course contents

The lessons will touch many arguments, the main topics are:
- Indices and their clinical interpretation
- Anatomical divergences and their recording
- Practical exercitations
