General rules

Go to the tuition fees page to find out the amount for the bracket you have been allocated.
Check which of the following cases you fall in to see if you can be refunded or if you have to make further payments or if your fee payment situation is OK.

First year students applying for ER.GO benefits

If this case applies to you, you did not have to pay the instalments after the first until the provisional list was published; therefore, on the basis of this list:

  • if you have been awarded a study grant (band A) you must pay in one instalment the (reduced) instalments following the first; the amount will be refunded (excluding the stamp duty, insurance and regional tax) if you earn 20 credits by 30 November 2017;
  • if you are awarded partial exemption and have paid only the first instalment, you must pay the outstanding fee amount;
  • if you are awarded partial exemption and have paid all or some of the instalments following the first, you must pay the outstanding amount and will be refunded if you have paid more than was due.

Students enrolled in subsequent years to the first who have applied for ER-GO benefits for the first time; The second and third points also concern any students who had already presented applications in previous years

If these cases apply to you, you did not have to pay the instalments after the first until the provisional list was published; therefore, on the basis of this list:

  • if you are awarded total exemption, you do not have to pay any further instalments and will be refunded the amount already paid with the exclusion of the stamp duty, insurance and regional tax;
  • if you are awarded partial exemption and have paid only the first instalment, you must pay the outstanding fee amount;
  • if you are awarded partial exemption and have paid all or some of the instalments following the first, you must pay the outstanding amount and will be refunded if you have paid more than was due.

Students enrolled in years following the first who were awarded a study grant in AY 2015/2016 and who in AY 2016/2017 have paid €157.46 (corresponding to the stamp duty, insurance and regional tax)

  • If you were awarded a grant in academic year 2016/2017 as well, you do not have to pay further instalments;
  • if you do not meet the income or merit requirements or do not submit an application for the benefits you have lost the right to the study grant, and you will have to pay all the fees for the academic year in one instalment;
  • if you no longer comply with the income requirements for a study grant, but have been assigned a reduced fee band, you must pay the annual amount for the band you have been assigned.

It should be noted that:

  • In AY 2016/2017, students awarded "Total exemption of tuition fees and half of the grant", who have obtained a study grant for another semester, must pay any outstanding differences. No fee refund (€ 201,58) will be due, as the amount was already deducted from the total annual grant.

Payment methods

After the deadline for submission of appeals, the actual amount will be determined. The deadline for payment is 17 July 2017.
To pay the fees you will no longer receive a paper MAV at your home address.
In Studenti Online, the area reserved for students of the University of Bologna, you can view your fee position and proceed with payment.

Fees can be paid in the following ways:

  • by credit card directly on-line. The card must be enabled for on-line payments (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners), and can be used even if it is not issued to your name;
  • at any bank having printed the Mav on-line (note: the MAV is now available only on-line. You will find it in the "Fee Situation" of Studenti Online);
  • at any branch of UniCredit Banca having printed the payment code (the code will be allocated when filling in the registration application or, for enrolling in years following the first, in Studenti Online).
