As part of the VII European Research Framework Programme, on 8 June 2006 in Brussels the European Commission presented the Biofuels Technology Platform focusing on the issue of biofuels.
This topic is certainly of national as well as European interest, with a view to the use of renewable energy sources as an alternative to conventional ones, the research into new markets for national agricultural production and competitive technological development for industry.
It is important for all public and private industrial and research stakeholders in the biofuel chain to be able to share a common position that considers the needs of all parties, each maintaining the specificities of our country.
This is why an Italian Biofuels Platform has been established, Biofuels Italia.
The Italian platform aims to be a useful tool for establishing a strategic national alliance and a network of public and private stakeholders able to accelerate and implement the response to the needs of society and consumers in the biofuel field in Italy, fostering the transfer of knowledge and innovation to the industrial world.
The platform is divided into five working groups, in the same manner as the European platform:
How to join the platform
Following the launch of the Platform (28 January 2008 – Bologna) we invite anyone interested to send and/or integrate their support.
We should remind representatives of public research centres (Universities, CNR departments and other bodies) that they have to join as a legal body and not as an individual department: this allows the platform to publish the official name and logo of the authority on all the programming documents.
Companies, institutions, research bodies, consortia, universities, associations, banks, foundations wishing to take part in the activities of the national Biofuels Italia platform are invited to submit the support form.
