The Bergen Conference 2005

The Bergen Conference of 19-20 May 2005 defined the new priorities within Europe for building the European Higher Education and Research Area.

Objectives of the Bergen Conference 2005

The main topics covered by the Bergen Communiqué concern the central role of the institutions, academic staff and students in the higher education development process.
Particular attention was paid to:

  • The value of research and research training
  • The social dimension of the Bologna Process
  • The value of mobility (students, teaching and administrative staff)
  • The attractiveness of the European area and cooperation with third countries.
