Short Bio

I am interested in applications of Combinatorics to: Representation Theory, Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Topology, and more broadly to sciences and technology.

In particular, my research topics are: matroids, Tutte polynomials, hyperplane arrangements, toric arrangements, wonderful models, vector partition functions, graphs, simplicial complexes and cell complexes, polytopes, Ehrhart theory,  log-concavity conjectures, knots, Coxeter groups, Lie algebras, semigroups, tropical geometry, representation-theoretic invariants of graphs and matroids.

After getting my Ph.D. in 2010 in Roma Tre under the supervision of Corrado De Concini , I was a postdoctoral researcher at TU Berlin, Mittag-Leffler Institute (Stockholm), Università di Roma 1, and a Marie Curie Fellow of INdAM. From 2013 to 2018 I was a Maître de Conférences at Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu - Université Paris 7 "Diderot", then from 2018 to 2020 I was an Associate Professor at Universita' di Bologna.

I gave more than 50 talks in several conferences and seminars, including MIT, MSRI, Oxford, UC Berkeley, Princeton U. I am currently supervising 3 Ph.D students.
