Scientific collaboration between Prof. Bruna Zani - Unibo

The initiative is part of the Cooperation Agreement between the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) - Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities - and Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna (UNIBO) - Facoltà di Psychology.
The data are to be shared between the Italian and Brazilian context, and rely on participant observation of rehabilitative activities (psychosocial) substitutive services developed in Belo Horizonte and Bologna.
Qualitative research aims to highlight and analyze comparatively the social and psychosocial rehabilitation devices available to users suffering from mental distress.The two contexts covered, although different, show similarities that are related to collaborative research, developed over decades between Brazil and Italy, on the subject of psychiatric deinstitutionalization and mental health policy.
Ongoing research activity
- Prof. Zani, and Dr. Fioritti, Director of the Department of Mental Health, AUSL of Bologna, are supervising a research project related to models of psychosocial rehabilitation for psychiatric patients, carried on by three Brasilian students, thanks to a CAPES grants:

Forthcoming exchange visit & events
- From 9 to 21 May Prof. Bruna Zani will join Prof. Maria Stella Brandao Go 2013 ulartat at the UFMG, Belo Horizonte, to develop a research project on "Models of psychosocial rehabilitation for users psychiatric disorders: a comparison of experiences in the contexts of Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte) and Emilia Romagna (Bologna).
The research visit has been scheduled in conjunction with a delegation of operators, users and family members of mental health services in Bologna, led by the Director of DSM dr. Angelo Fioritti. More info
