Social History

Society and mentality of the Early Middle Age and the effect of communication in the late Middle Age, represent the common field of research and networking.

Scientific collaboration  between  Prof. Maria Giuseppina Muzzarelli Department of Paleography and Medieval Studies and  Professor Marcelo Candido da Silva, Director of Laboratorio de Estudios Medievais, University of San Paolo:

  •  the effect of  communication in late Middle Ages through the study of preaching and its social outcomes. The topics focused are Sumptuary Laws and the foundation of Monti di Pietà     
  • society and mentality  of  Early Middle Ages's examined through the relationship between rules and social construction, specially with regard to the conception and  treatment of the theft in the civic Laws and in  Penitential Books.

  • January 2013. Further discussion and studies about the Historical research in Brazil with Professor Da Silva during his visit at University of Bologna.

  •  September 2012. Prof. Muzzarelli short course on preaching in Medieval period at the Departamento de Historia at USP.

  •  September 2012. Prof. Muzzarelli lecture  on : "libri penitenziari tra storia e antropologia" at USP (in Italian)

  • October 2012. Prof. Muzzarelli lectures at "Seminario Permanente de Història, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais "the preaching and its fruits" and "the made in Italy and its historical origin" with prof. Soraya Coppola.

  • Prof. Muzzarelli lecture  on "Fashion and Luxury: historical perspectives"with Claudio D'Agostini, Amanda Vargas, at IED in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture.
  • February 2011. Presentation in Bologna by professor Marcelo Candido da Silva of its research issues .
