The Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Bologna has several bilateral cooperation agreements with Universities located in the southern part of Brazil that deal with temperate fruit trees and viticulture including:
- Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel)
- Federal University of Porto Alegre (UFRGS),
- Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM)
(in the State of Rio Grande do Sul)
- Federal University of Florianopolis (UFSC)
- Santa Catarina State University (UDESC)
- Federal University of Curitiba (UFPR)
- Catholic University of Curitiba (PUC) (State of ParanĂ ).
Several visiting exchanges has included undergraduate and PhD students, Post doc, researchers and professors. At the same time research of common interest, focusing on orchard management and sustainable production are in progress.
Current activities
- In cooperation with Regione Emilia-Romagna, and ASCOM-CAAB Mercati di Bologna the Department is involved in the modernization and organization of the wholesale market for fresh fruit and vegetables (CEASA) of Curitiba (contact person Dr. Gianbattista Sorrenti)
- Prof. Marangoni has contributed to establish the relationship between the Faculty of Agriculture and the Universities of southern Brazil. He is involved in the modernization project of the wholesale market of Curitiba and in a historic-cultural project about the origin of the wine industry in Brazil and on the comparison of the agrifood system between Italy and Brazil. This project included a 6-month visit of an Italian student to Bento Gonsalves (RS) and Florianopolis (SC).
