Professor Mainardi 's research topics (Department of Physics and Astronomy) are in the framework of Mathematical Physics, including problems of diffusion and wave propagation in fluids and solids, stochastic processes, special functions and fractional calculus.
Prof. Francesco Mainardi holds a long standing scientific collaboration with Prof. Edmundo Capelas de Oliveira ,Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Campinas and his group.
Past exchange visit
2010 - Prof. Mainardi delivers a mini-course and carry out joint research on Fractional calculus, supported by a Fellowship of the University of Campinas for living and travel expenses. The result of the joint research is the paper - E. Capelas de Oliveira, F. Mainardi and J. Vaz Jr: "Models based on Mittag-Leffler functions for anomalous relaxation in dielectrics", The European Physical Journal, Special Topics, Vol. 193, pp. 161-171 (2011).
Recent exchange visit
2013 - Prof. Capelas renews his invitation for the month of September. Prof. Mainardi gives a new mini-course on Fractional Calculus to graduated and PhD students and carrying out research with the team of Prof Capelas, supported by a FAPESP fellowship.
