Center for international COoperation and Development on Engineering, Environment and Emergency

Code3, founded in 2010, aims at coordinating and promoting the organization of scientific and training initiatives,  information and awareness campaigns on issues that are relevant to development in emerging countries, information exchanges between Italian and foreign institutions and research centers in all fields of Civil, Environmental and Materials Engineering (DICAM).


Prof. Alessandra Bonoli, DICAM and  Brasil IRT Member, is responsible for the Code 3 Unit Appropriate Technology for Developing Countries:

The main theme of this unit are related with natural resources (as raw material, water and renewable sources of energy) valorisation:

  • Construction and Demolition Waste Management and Recycling.
  • International rules for CDW recycling and application.
  • Guide lines for CDW utilisation in the construction field. Design of processing plants.
  • Urban Waste management.
  • Waste Recycling design.
  •  Evaluation of the best waste collection and processing.
  • Water resource and waste water management.
  • Water resource valorization and Drinking water  supplying.
  • Waste water  treatment and nutrients recovery.
  • Life Cycle Assessment, Ecological Footprint and Multicriteria Analysis approach application in water and natural resources valorisation and in waste management and recycling.
